Simmesport has chosen Mr. Kirk Lacour for Town Magistrate. Mr. Lacour will preside over city court as the judge. Kirk P. LaCour was raised in Moreauville and now lives in Mansura. He began his career in public service as junior firefighter with the community’s volunteer fire service then as a volunteer fire fighter, and now continues to serve the community as an Assistant Coroner with the Avoyelles Parish Coroner’s Office. KirkLacourMr. LaCour’s primary employment is as the Director of the National EMS Academy, which is the training division of Acadian Ambulance Service, Inc. In addition to this role, he also serves as Associate Counsel and Associate Privacy Officer in Acadian Ambulance Service’s legal and compliance departments.  Mr. LaCour has associate degrees in Emergency Medical Services and Biology (Our Lady of the Lake College – Baton Rouge), Bachelor’s Degrees in Human Medicine and Health Sciences (Our Lady of the Lake College – Baton Rouge), a MBA from LSU, and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge. He has worked in all facets of public service, from a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, corrections officer, and an assistant coroner. Finally, as an attorney, Mr. LaCour is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and has been admitted to practice law in the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
